All I'd like a sisterhood of techs for is: 1.) Complaining about users who don't get that women are, in fact, competent human beings--which means we couldn't possibly bash the Dogcow. He's never been sexist around me, anyway. 2.) A good excuse to throw parties that involve the good china and the nice silverware (paper and plastic, anyone?). ;)

Re: lack of sexist techs on TSC.....I can't speak for everyone here, but I've found in this line of work it ain't about what or who you are, its about what you can do. Tech support is a level playing field as far as sexes are concerned....go the sisterhood of TSC! -lineswine

I know that if you reinstall the oem xp install, all the drivers are in C:\windows\system32\drivers folder, sometimes the xp drivers for our system will work for other OS's, after you have that folder, reinstall 98 -Smith

Tekkie, I think all new HP lasers (at least the 1*00 line) have the ability to accept older PCL command sets. I hade to do this recently for a client that had Nota Bene for DOS running on a DOS3.3 box! I didn't realize how many useful commands were put into later versions of DOS until I tried working on it. Eventually brought a Win98 boot floppy with me to work on it. HTH! -CTYankee

I was ready two years ago to help him out with the kids (the last time this happened) and he just took them and disappeared for almost two years - not for the first time. We go thru this about every two years or so, and I am tired of seeing those kids dragged from one hell-hole to another, to be evicted, change schools, held back for another year. Tekkie, in the UK the Preference Services (mailing, telephone and fax) are absolute. Once you sign up you stay on them unless or until you yourself choose to de-register. Tekkie, thanks so VERY much for your concern. I will be fine, in time. Today I am not very mobile though. I have a broken left fibula which requires no casting (whew) and a ton of bruises there. I have apparently got a torn MCL in my right knee, which has a "star" sized immobilizing brace on it. So much for a summer on my bicycle!! It was my own stupid inattention anyhow, it was my fishy move. So I feel stupid about the whole thing too :/ But nevermind, all will be fine longer term. Once again, thanks. -Mysty

OK, you said 7 or 8 weeks ago that I should update the injury report. Well, I got MRI results. I was hoping for a lot better. I am lucky, I am fairly mobile now, and not in a lot of pain. I am not so lucky though, as the right MCL is ripped off at the femur, the right ACL is ruptured and I have a small, previously undetected break in the tibular plateau. :/ 6-10 more weeks of the huge knee brace, lots of exercise to see if we can stablize this mess, then likely off to the surgeon for 2 ligament fixies. So, really, I have been getting about on 2 broken legs ! :) Grrr. -Mysty
